“And he said to his disciples, “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat, nor about your body, what you will put on. For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing. Consider the ravens: they neither sow nor reap, they have neither storehouse nor barn, and yet God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds! And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? If then you are not able to do as small a thing as that, why are you anxious about the rest? Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass, which is alive in the field today, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith! And do not seek what you are to eat and what you are to drink, nor be worried. For all the nations of the world seek after these things, and your Father knows that you need them. Instead, seek his kingdom, and these things will be added to you.””

Luke 12:22-31 ESV

Anxiety is an extremely common emotion now, and has been throughout the entirety of history. In fact, similar subjects were worried about in history just as much as they are being worried about currently. Whether that worry be about a financial situation, a relationship, possessions, health, or even others, they have all been agonized over before, and will continue to be until the return of Christ.

The solution to anxiety, despite its seemingly everlasting dominion over society throughout all of history, is trusting in God alone, and seeking His glory and His kingdom. Jesus, in the above passage, clearly articulates the loving care of our Father in heaven. If our Father feeds the birds, and even clothes the grass in the beautiful array of lilies grown by His divine providence, then how much more will He take care of His images.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”

John 3:16 ESV

God, the Creator of the universe, adored His images so much that He gave His only Son in order that we might be reunited with Him in glory for an eternity. Even after the fall, God promised an offspring that would conquer sin and death (Genesis 3:15) simply because He cares for humanity. If God, throughout all of redemptive history, has been working to reunite us to Himself, then how much more will He take care of those who trust in Him, and seek after His kingdom.

Surrender yourself to the Father, and let Him reign in your life eternally. Furthermore, pursue His kingdom and glory. The solution to anxiety about financial situations, relationships, possessions, or whatever other worry, dies when you let God reign supreme as the sovereign and divine King over the life He has gifted you.
